hurch & Social Obituaries HARVEY ANDY MESSNER Harvey Andy Messner, 84, of Baxter, died Friday, March 21,2014 at Essentia Health - St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Dr. Daniel Messner officiating. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to services and stayed for a luncheon at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Re- ception Room. Interment was at Baxter City Cemetery. Harvey was born March 11, 1930, in Winthrop, MN, the son of Levi and Mac (Miller) Messner. On Novem- ber 24, 1951, he married Verda Hagg in Winthrop. The couple moved to the Twin Cities area in 1960 and Harvey worked at Federal Cartridge in Anoka for 25 years. Following retire- ment, they moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1994. Harvey had an excellent work ethic and was mechanically in- clined. He enjoyed wood- working and gardening. He liked to golf and travel. Har- vey loved to play pranks and especially enjoyed spending time and sharing laughs with his family, children, grand- children, and great grandchil- dren. He will be missed by his wife of 62 years, Verda; chil- dren, Debra (Clifford) Borden, of Merrifield, Dr. Daniel (Lois) Messner, of Lima, OH, and Darren (Kristy) Messner, of Belle Fourche, SD; siblings, Hazel Schmidt, Mike Messner, Don Messner, Marvin Mess- ner, Melvin Messner, Shirley Demm, Idabell Witt, and Jerry Messner, l l grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She weighed 8 lbs. 9 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long. She was welcomed home by her parents Jackie and Michael and big brother Antony. Her grandparents are An- thony and Nellie Chiuga of Nairobi Kenya and Jeff and Connie Majeski of Winthrop and Lois Majeski is her great grandma. F ngagement Steve and Deb Sjostrom, of Lafayette, are excited to an- nounce the engagement of their daughter, Megan Sjostrom, to Karl Jacobsen, son of Scott Jacobsen, of Eagan, and Phyllis & Dave Oldenburg of Prior Lake. Megan's grandparents include Leroy & Gertie Rathmann of New Ulm, Lowell & Adrianne Sjostrom of Lafayette, and Cora Sjostrom of St Peter. Megan is a 2008 graduate of GFW High School, Winthrop, and Karl is a 2009 graduate of Prior Lake. Both Megan and Karl are 2012 graduates of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Megan is em- ployed by WinField Solutions, Shoreview, in marketing, while Karl works for Target in Minneapolis in technology.
