The num- ber one problem is how to control representative government in the face of inflation. It may be impossi- ble to control inflation due to natural forces over which people have no control. It is possible to preserve representative government because that is a political question and politi- .cal questions are clearly within the power of the people to decide. The argument is often heard that unless inflation is controlled, the re- sulting chaos will automatically de- stroy freedom, and history is called upon to destroy such an argument. But in answer to this it can be said that there never has been another nation in history like the United States.
